Moloney,
From a young age I remember having a desire to work with young children.
Once I completed my second level education in my home
country, Ireland, I went on to study the Montessori Method
as I had some fond memories of attending Montessori school
when I was young and was intrigued by the many articles I
had read about Dr. Montessori and her method. I always had
the urge to visit many parts of the world and once I
obtained my Teaching Diploma I sought and was offered
employment in a prestigious Montessori School in sunny
Florida, USA. After
two years there I returned home to lecture on my
experiences and philosophies of the method. I was then
drawn to a school in London that was renowned for its
association with Dr. Montessori back in 1951. There I
spent three years teaching boys and girls aged 4-5 years. I am very accepting and open to learning about the many
cultures throughout the world and I wanted to experience a
society far more diverse from that of Europe. It was then
that I came upon an opening here in China.
Up to this day I have enjoyed every aspect of
living here, the warm people, amazing culture, and the
language are to name but a few. From my years of teaching I now have the knowledge and
experience to broaden the young minds of The Children’s
House to help them understand and gain knowledge of the
world in which we live.
From my personal point of view, children around the
world are the same but their experiences of living in
different societies makes them all unique.
I hope that in the upcoming year the children will
get many new opportunities from my teachings so that a
strong foundation will remain with them in their years
ahead. I am very proud to be a part of The Children’s House team as the
principal of our Kempinski Campus. |

| Ingrid
van Ginkel,
I was born and raised on a fruit farm in South Africa. As both my
parents were pilots, I got to travel the world from an
early age. Hence, the adventurous spirit! My fondest
memories of a beautiful childhood are those of an
abundance of love, security, discipline and the guidance
from a mother who encouraged us to think for ourselves.
Those gifts, together with the belief in oneself, are what
I wish to pass on to the children in my class, and are
also reflected in the Montessori philosophy. Due to my deep love for children, I completed my
Montessori training through London Montessori and have
taught for five years, both in South Africa and China.
Presently, I teach the Pre-Primary class at the Lufthansa
Campus. Other chapters of my life include obtaining a PRO
Diploma, the TESL certificate, qualifying as a Dental
Nurse, flying as an air hostess for private airlines,
working as an Optometric receptionist for three years and
more recently, as a liaison officer in a retirement
village in South Africa. I am thrilled to be in Beijing
and to be part of the Children’s House family. Together
as a team, we have created a world wherein the children
can feel safe and secure, as well as enjoy exposure to the
different backgrounds and thought processes of their
friends and teachers. |

Xhilda Kumi Ni hao everyone. I am Xhilda Kumi from Albania. I have a Bachelor Degree in Social Work
form the Social Work and Applied Psychology Faculty of
Tirana University of Albania. From 1996 until 2000, I worked in a child development center in Albania
dealing with children who have emotional and personality
disorders. During that time I have also taken many
training courses around Europe in the treatment of child
abuse, trauma psychology, psychology and psychopathology
of childhood. I have worked in the Ministry of Adoption
Affairs of Albania as a part time social worker. I came to China in January 2000 as a result of my husbands career. I
would never have imagined that one one day I would be
living here. Now, after five years I find it so difficult
to thing of leaving. It is so wonderful living in a country with such an interesting, unique
and ancient culture. I believe I am extremely fortunate to
work in the Children’s House and to be part of a
wonderful international environment. Due to the
international character of the school, teaching here has
provided me with numerous opportunities to learn, develop
and share my ideas. For the past three years I have worked as a Teaching Assistant in both
Pre-Primary and Primary classes. This year I have the
opportunity to teach Art, Music, Movement and Cooking. I
am also very happy to be teaching the young children in
the Nursery class here in Kempinski as a lead Directress. |
