                The Ladybird Class

Much love and effort has gone into the creation of our Pre-Primary classroom here at the Kempinski Campus. The children enjoy an environment where they are safe and happy, and in which they can reach their maximum learning potential. Our little world is divided into five areas: Practical Life, Sensorial, Mathematics, Language and Culture.

By working through these areas, at their own pace and guided by myself, Melody and San Mei, the children learn valuable skills. Independence, concentration, co-ordination, self-esteem and social awareness are some of the precious skills they will acquire. Routine and orderliness in the classroom teach the children to keep the environment clean and tidy, making it easier for all to enjoy. They are taught to put everything away in its right place, once the chosen work is completed. These procedures teach an awareness of considering the group as a whole and not only as an individual. Through activity, the children develop both gross and fine motor skills.

In our class, group snack is enjoyed at a set time each day. Good table manners are always encouraged, the social aspects of the class are observed. In both the bathroom and the classroom, personal hygiene is encouraged at all times.

The mixed age grouping in our Montessori class encourages children to teach and help each other, while we give guidance and support. Together with the materials provided, we will help the children to master the basic skills of everyday life.
