Our schools offer the following classes:

Nursery Class (for children aged 1-2.5 years)
Pre-Primary Class (for children aged 2-3.5 years)
Primary Class (for children aged 3-6 years)
Primary Class Bilingual (for children aged 3-6 years)
Reception Class (for children aged 4.5-6 years)

The ages given for each classroom are a guide. As you can see, many of the ages overlap, as when we place children in the classrooms, we will always look more carefully at each child’s individual needs as opposed to their age.

Nursery Class

The Nursery class is like the incubator of the school. It provides a padded floor with lots of space for early walkers to “strut their stuff” and the older ones for running their toys and tumbling. There are play objects like balls of all sizes, building blocks, vehicles, dolls, and stuffed animals. It is an environment full of hugs, meant to lessen the pain of separation and help the little ones build a sense of trust and confidence in themselves and in their parents.

The children are free to choose from water or sand play, finger painting, painting, play dough, spooning, transferring, and pouring activities. Their independence is encouraged at every turn and respect for the environment and each other also is encouraged.

It is an English environment with Nursery Rhymes, songs, finger plays and books of all shapes and sizes. There is a good deal of conversation and naming going on and the say and do approach helps them slip into the routine quickly and repeat the jargon early on.

Much too soon for us these little ones are ready to move on to pre-Primary having put the separation anxiety behind them they are ready to open any door that education has to offer.

Pre-Primary Class

Our main aim is to encourage the child to become independent in a safe and nurturing environment. We provide a setting in which the children freely seek out and engage in activities that build the independence, confidence and love of learning that are essential to their development.

We provide a caring and stimulating environment for your child.
We encourage independence and confidence within your child.
We use the Montessori Method to encourage active learning and to ensure children learn at their own pace.
We encourage children to learn for themselves and to be able to make choices and decisions.

Primary Class

The goals of our Primary classes are to foster independence, to support the
children in their development of self, and to aid them in being aware of and caring for their environment.

Our classrooms are prepared and designed to encourage children to become accustomed to exercising their own will and judgment. We have many interest-based activities which encourage children to develop a love of learning and to trust in their own ability to learn. The classroom as a whole is designed to encourage initiative and independence together with self discipline and social development. While many of the activities and classes teach language, numeracy, co-ordination, science, music and art, our ultimate goal is to prepare the children not so specifically for school but for life.

Primary Class - Bilingual

As with our International Primary Class, the main aims of our Bilingual Primary Class are to encourage children to exercise their own will and judgment and to develop a lifelong love of learning. All of the equipment which we use in our International Classes to teach language, math, co-ordination, cultural studies, music and art are also used in our Bilingual classes. The only difference being that our lead teachers speak to our children in Chinese as opposed to English while our assistants/English guides use English with the children.

Reception Class

The aim of our reception classes is to create a happy and secure environment, carefully prepared in a way which meets the needs of the children. We hope to help our children make a smoother transition from the Montessori Kindergarten environment into a traditional primary school. Thus, as well as freely choosing materials to help their development, they also work in groups, following work programmes for subjects such as Math and English. We also encourage children at this stage to start recording their work on paper.
